Are you searching for landscaping design trends to enhance the beauty of your yard and garden in the new year? There are many different design trends you can consider for your home’s yard. To simplify and save everyone time, we would like to share 3 design trends we have and are continuing to see throughout landscapes in 2021. Any and all of these trends will greatly beautify your yard and garden when implemented professionally.

Trend 1: Simplify Your Garden
A landscaping trend we have seen and homeowner’s still love includes simplifying the garden. When you simplify a garden, you should look for hardy flowers and plants that do not require constant maintenance. Consider perennials, groundcover such as Liriope, and ornamental grass such as Feather Reed grass. These plants are considered hardy and should not require lots of attention. Plant garden plants with similar watering needs together to ease your maintenance. Lastly, automate watering your yard and garden. Water longer less times per week, like 20 minutes 2 times a week.

Trend 2: Resort Style Relaxation Spaces
We are all traveling a lot less during these times. However, you can always bring resort relaxation home when incorporating your favorite resort design elements. Soft outdoor lighting is a great place to start creating the ambience you would like in your yard. You might also consider a theme for your entire landscape so the entire design is cohesive.
Have you ever considered a beach theme, or the Mountains, or the tropics? Water features will enhance the natural sounds and beauty of your theme. Enjoy the sound of water while you relax. Lastly, you could consider planting some tropical plants. Preferably plants from your favorite place that can survive your home’s climate.

Trend 3: Repurpose Old Items
Have an old, extra window pane or door sitting around? If so, consider repainting it (if necessary), and then try adding it to your garden. Many times, homeowners will decorate the repurposed item further by adding flowers and maybe garden decorations. Old ladders can also come in handy showcasing flowers and plants throughout your garden. Lastly, old bikes and baskets make excellent additions to any garden providing a more vintage design. Maybe this year will be a good time to repurpose old items you no longer use.
In Conclusion…
As you can see, there are many landscape design trends to consider for your home’s yard. Keeping things simple in your design, while including resort style themes and repurposing old items are popular trends to keep in mind this year. Less garden maintenance, natural sounds, tropical views, and old, vintage garden decorations are things you definitely want to think about.
